Standards-Aligned Curriculum Design

Developing a comprehensive, standards-aligned curriculum framework for K–12 students at Royal Choice Schools.

Case Study Draft: Full documentation, student outcome metrics, and complete curriculum visual assets are currently being compiled. Check back shortly for updated visuals.

1. The Challenge

Royal Choice Schools needed a cohesive, standards-aligned curriculum framework across multiple grade levels. Teaching was inconsistent across classrooms, and there was no documented scope & sequence to guide teacher planning or assessment. The school leadership needed an overarching curriculum strategy that ensured academic rigor while providing clear, practical guidance for teachers day-to-day.

2. Target Audience

Primary Audience: K–12 classroom teachers and school administrators. Teachers ranged from novice educators to veteran staff, requiring materials that were structured enough for beginners yet flexible enough for experienced teachers.

Secondary Audience: K–12 students who benefited from aligned, sequential learning across grade levels without instructional gaps.

3. My Role & Process

As Lead Curriculum Designer, I guided the project through the full ADDIE lifecycle:

  • Analyze: Conducted a comprehensive curriculum audit, reviewed existing lesson plans, interviewed grade-level leads, and identified learning gaps across grade levels.
  • Design: Mapped learning outcomes to national and state educational standards; established scope & sequence blueprints per grade level and subject.
  • Develop: Authored teacher resource guides, lesson framework templates, unit plans, and formative assessment rubrics.
  • Implement: Facilitated curriculum rollout workshops for teaching staff and provided instructional coaching during initial implementation.
  • Evaluate: Collected teacher feedback and student assessment data to iterate and refine unit plans mid-year.

4. Tools & Methods Used

5. Solution Overview

Delivered a complete, published curriculum package including grade-level scope & sequence guides, aligned unit plans, teacher lesson templates, and diagnostic assessment blueprints.

The framework introduced clear learning objectives, active learning strategies, and rubrics that streamlined teacher lesson preparation while ensuring every classroom met core academic standards.

6. Outcome & Impact

  • 100% of target grade levels transitioned to the unified standards-aligned framework.
  • Teacher lesson planning time was reduced by approximately 30% due to clear templates and pre-aligned objectives.
  • School leadership reported increased consistency in instructional delivery during classroom evaluations.
